The Business Full Text

 

I have been an organizational man for so long.

I work extended hours just to make living.

I must tell you that there is much to life than work.

You need to work with family. You need to work with friends. You need to share wonderful moments with this people.

How can you be fired from the Compqny you started or founded. An excerpt from Steve.

I really had a wonderful time working over the years. The experience spanned more than 7 years .

I work with all might. I talk with all might. I made money for my Company with all might.

Like Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho I know how to read the game of business excellently.

I was used. And I was useful. I have been used and useful. I stand the taate of time. The loyalty. The integrity. Plus the honesty.

I built great team. Past and present.

I work in an Organisation that is so big. Big politics. Many in it sees me like a threat. And I believe many also feel I can do much more than what I am doing. I can’t just keep thanking this people enough.

My last boss wasn’t really a wicked person. He was just confused. He acted on instructions of his direct report. He silently called me that My English is too much for him. He sees me like a threat. I humbled myself enough to make he feel important. I appreciated him more than those who refused or wouldn’t say these.

They said we shouldn’t mouth wash our boss or company . How true? Keeping issues in our mind wouldn’t help the world. Countless Novel were written in business and Management just to keep us informed.

Some company has good intentions towards humanity. But unfortunately the people inside those Company mean it when they want to racicised you. Racism. The TQM of such Company cannot even think to that angle.

My management Style is quite amazing. I like and respect people. And I wouldn’t like people being maltreated.

I defended my team in times of crisis. I coached and I correct them.

A visitor from within the company I partnered with insulted  my team. She was instructed by the Supervisor I worked for.

But which HRs would trained her people to insult or use word of abuse. These guys said they would never insult customers. But insulting staff ain’t big deal to them. This is bad.

instead of buying idea of reporting by Supervisor. I called him. Is there anyone you don’t like in this team or its manager? Please let me know. We can tell people to step down or leave a company rather than frustrating their lives.

The wide discrimination and the most popular one is these job title and or employment status. Contract or permanent. The private sectors some of its have no respect for humanity.

I endure human behaviour in the work place.

I respectfully request for Change in Supervision via mail. Hello sir,how is work going overthere? Please I would like to request for q change in Supervision for my Unit. The reason is purely official. In other for us to achieve our business goals and objectives. Thank you.

It took plenty days to get acknowledgement to this simple mail.

I was invited for a meeting on the subject matter. And guess what the topic was changed.  I was in a meeting with 4 opposition. Sincerely management has been abused. They used word of insult and threat. I had nothing to say in this type of meeting. Like I said I am very good at reading game.

Management didn’t just happen to me without planned. I read every bit of it. I spent virtually all my semester break trying to study Management. I read it closely with Medical students on campus. You know these guys can read for q long period of time.

Working in a Toxic environment is very hectic.

So many approaches were used to get me frustrated from managing. I so much love selling than managing.

Making money is not an issue for the business I managed.

Getting staff working to get things done is easier for me.

I was set up on countless occasions just to get rid of me.

What could have been my offence.

Some years ago I got home feeling not happy about my job. I just want to get out. I cried and my girl friend wiped my tears . Every year I battled getting out of the job. Day by day .

What kept me for two long on this job? I love my job. I so much like what I am doing. It is selling. It is Marketing. It is loving people. Its about Technology.

One of our primary purpose in life is to do what we love.

Life is short doing something you don’t like.

I guess I cried over poor treatment. I’m I meeting up with my needs . I’m I really supporting my family enough? Is there a room for growth. Money is not everything. But don’t tell that to a woman. Success is a journey not destination. But Knowledge Management aside. You have got to show your score card. Have you settle your Bills?

When it time for you to sack people. Think well before you sack. Some employee don’t have strength to plead. Moreover, don’t give threat to a Single person. He or she has portable bag to fly from your job.

Remember one day you would leave your organization whether sack or any how. Organization and society would inherit every employee. The leaves wither the tree stays.

why asking people in your company to feel sanction form forcefully?

Why telling your Team that they can’t find another work like the rope on their neck?

Regardless of Mafia way of life. You need to study the concept of work. Why giving managerial position to someone who is not competent to define Management. Even if he does define it. Can he tell us how Management evolved? 

Companies just employ. Empower and turns away. No check mates. I can’t work in a company where people are being teroris.

It is the people in your company that owns power. Power to brings in more customers.  Power to make profit.

Incompetent manager would really love to make headline.

What would you gain from setting up people in your company? You are setting them up to make mistakes or to tarnish their image. You paint people black to your superiors and colleagues. You manipulate by recording calls and archiving mails.

Sincerely,we ain’t running Organisation well in this country. Shop management has it own formular. Running a large scale firm has it’s own.

If one dare recruit in Sport as they do in some companies thee days. Football game would sound dull to fans.

The quality of the services you are going to derive from a business would not just come from the staff that is facing or interfacing you. It would surely emanate even right from the conoant head office and the totality of the people in it. Please recruit qualified,skilled and well trained being.

The cost of having an incompetent Manager is expensive.

Let us save our team from stress of poor Supervision.

Even  poor English cum bad spelling can affect a Team.

A superior should try and be better off to inject it to his manager. The manager would in turn inject it to his team. A good Team would make you have an happy customer. Revenue guarantee 

The best thing that would ever happen to you is Technical work. You don’t copy and paste while being Technical. Technical work ain’t feminine .

While in the meeting with these guys. They said things out of point.

Before the meeting I had a brief discussion with an Admin. I said come some people are living without working. A staff hinted me and said he is really interested in knowing how to live without work. Is it Yahoo? Ask the fish. Fishes are making living well

People in Nigeria, got so much threat when it comes to work. You cannot live life if you live our under paid work.

The fact is that it very difficult to leave a job you behave yourself into.

Your weaknesses would easily be denoted. Especially when they see that you are married . For any attempt to sack you, you would likely beg. You would be used.

I waited for the right moment to quit my work.

Loyalty won’t allow you to say it’s time to let go. Loyalty is a 2 ways thing.

When a job is no longer adding value to you. Won’t you call it full stop.

When a job is planning to sack you. Won’t you sack yourself on time

When the culture of a company is becoming Toxic. Won’t you run away to save yourself.

When manipulation and politics are becoming high. I think you need to think for yourself.

When it is set up here. Set up and set up. You just gave to let go.

Hatred,racism and discrimination are cancerous diseases inhibit by an individual with low self esteem to frustrate life out of employees and managers.

I don’t see any wrong when a manager prescribe what is best for Management . The Manager set the vision and he sees the business.

Whatever a Manager suggest shouldn’t be neglect. That word manager is since qua non to Doctor.

For the best interest of the team and the business. A poor Supervision is not good for a retail business . Its drained energy

I complained bitterly and professionally on the state of Supervision we have in our office.

The Supervisor we have doesn’t know what it takes to supervise a shop.

I sent a mail on Request to Change Supervisor.

The mail wasn’t acknowledged not until like one week.

I was invited by The Supervisor boss for a meeting.

On getting to The Meeting. The Subject matter was changed to something different.

I was in a meeting with 4 of The Staff who are actually different from my company that I worked for. Our work is partnership .

They all dominated the talk during the meeting. I wasn’t given the chance to talk.

They later turned the table to ask if I am married? I said No sir. The other guy told me to say something. That if I refused to say something  whatever they comes up with that I should accept it.

Most of their discussion was on customers complaint about my Shop. Since I’m their leader I have to take responsibility . That my staff are turning customer request down on sim swap.

The Supervisor boss threatened to close down the Shop and evacuate everybody there. May I should have apologised like I used to. I didn’t say a word.

I was forced to talk. They have camera,video,recorder and other tech tools.

I told them; we have identified problems.  We are going to fix it. May God help us. They asked why I’m I calling God in this situation.  I said its God.

They said I would get feedback in 3 days time.

My Team Lead and my staff was invited the following day.

They refused to sign forms of offences.

Before they could get to the office. The Supervisor sent mail on dismissal to me. In addition, he suspended two of my staff.

In business law,he is not the one who engaged me to work. The franchise owner has to approve that.

One of my partner called me and said we would discuss about it whenever he come around to the office

The Moment That the Genius Cry. How Good Are You in The Corporate World?

I think in retrospect, I have work with some of the best Companies you can talk about in this country. And I have also work in the best capacities of growing such businesses.

The story of how I left Telecom firm has attracted so many analytics.

I have written some of the articles surrounding this not for piety but simply for Business Storytelling. We write for fun. And we also write to ease the burden and load we carry on our chest. It is experience. Past experiences. And they are worth sharing. And those characters in the scene can be met someday and we may likely drink ice crem together.

How come whenever I am explaining this past experience I would start crying? I have no power behind these tears. And my guys would tell me to stop. Frustration comes for different angle. The He-motions things. Even strong men cry.

I have tried every possible means to leave the past behind. It cannot be change and there is no future in looking at the past.

Content management calls for us to make use of pen. We need to draw things from our past and put it into writing. If we do not write, how do we intend to inspire the younger ones that are coming to the world of Management.

Do not be good in your own eyes. Sounds lay man. To every Executives reading this. It is Good to be good and get remark and or recommendation from good people.

I have big head that is big for something. Big for Design Thinking and much more. All the crisis that I have had in most companies is enough to show that I am not needed by dull folks. No one fight the dullard. Only the genius. I look onto Steve Jobs a lot when dealing with Toxic wicked people in the workplace. I manage them and I always see problems before they become chronic.

The like of Muritala Isa Asada is worth being noted in my diary. If not for Muri I would have still been swimming in my wasted years. If someone like Muri can call me one on one and told me that I am a threat to him in the Retail Franchise outlet. Others kept this in mind. Some are busy calling me professor. If I cannot understand Languages in Nigeria. I understand body languages very well.

Guys it is not all job that are ready to be signed worth taken. Some jobs can take your life. Some people in it are blacks and they can do black magic. Do not work with people that do not have love in their midst. The premise of their job was built on manipulation.

How come MTN allow you to go? Does it mean you are not good? Inside the boardroom some of the Executives put their head on table while interviewing me. I noticed tears in the eyes of recruiters whenever I have contact with them.

Ajala, tell us. You are not good. Ajala Speaking “Sincerely I am not good. I don’t think I am good. But people said I am good. I am not good all the Senior Managers hide me when the Customer Relation Executive came to visit my store. I am not good my Boss said I should not send mail without his approval. I am not good I turned a Garage into a shop. I am not good I turned a shop into a retail outlet. I made a retail shop a Company and before you would know it is now a Conglomerate. Dear Executives, I am not good it was me against the guys in Sales and Distribution. I am not good The Regional Manager in The CR unit along with The Quality Assurance guys, Service center manager, Connect operations supervisors, The Fleet guys and so on all gang against me. Sir, I am not good so how come they keep setting me up many numbers of times? They used girls to set me up. They use clients to set me up. They even use Alimajiri to set me up. They use their girlfriends, cousins and so on to set me up. Some of those who are closed to me also sold my information’s to them so that it can be easy for them to bring me down. I called those friends Hypocrite. I was forced to resigned! I was told or suggest to take pea nut of cash for the years spent on the job. I was asked to back date my resignation letter. Everything is worth smiling and crying about. And life must go on.

What exactly is wrong with the system of work in Nigeria? Is it that the system is good? But the people in it were faulty?

Modern days’ workplace has their own code of work and no one cares if you are good. If you are good, they would attack you straight aways.

This work experience was very fantastic and very relevant to me in the way I see human, peoples, individual, group and systems. No one to trust.

If I did not take your job offer. Please do not take it personal. I also need money to eat. But I have to respect my mental health. Money cannot the health upstairs.

And for those Recruiters that are busy looking for excuses on my Resume. Saying I switch job like time to time. Some are even saying if I would be loyal to their work. See HR, loyalty is priceless. Have you work in a company where you are being cajole not to go on leave? Have you work round the clock Monday to Sunday? How do you rate a man that work for 6+ years on a fixed contract. I catch fun work for the company I want. Any company that wants employee engagement knows what to do. Loyalty should be two ways.

I really want to help Startups companies in Nigeria to have a corporate look. Do not behave like the old and odds. Some companies are old but creativity has been misplaced. Many of their employees have misplaced priorities. Many set their own objectives ahead of the companies.

When are we going to have Companies in Nigeria that would rival with US or UK companies. The banking industries look like a big deal to us. We gave ourselves too cheap to the Telcos that came from South Africa, UAE, India and so on. All our human capital and talented being are in abroad doing what they know best.

Startups companies should not be in the habit of cheating their staff. If they do, they are building a bad reputation towards their brand. Companies should learn to respect people. some of the small things that we tend to overlook becomes germane. You would see someone that cannot write or spell his or name heading a unit. All he does is to append signature.

Startups companies should not mix up National politics with Office politics. And on no account should we place office politics into our company system. Who has politics help? Where is the failed bank? We think Oil and Gas are creative enough to rescue us? What if Oil got dry. Where is our own cable companies? DSTV and the rest of them were imported to us. When are we going to export our own corporate thinking.

The problems that constitute where we are today are part greed and toxic behavior. The definition of office is not known to some of us. We just want to go their and eat money without adding value to the stakeholders or public.

The injustice being done or carried out in our workplace by Human Resource and or Quality Assurance Team has become rooted. Group of people control our company like mafia. They are known as informal group. What is the future of work in Nigeria if these guys continue in this manner.

The commercial banks have tried when it comes to serving the larger population of the African market segments. Retail and corporate banking are the 2 biggest areas covered by the big names in Nigerian Banking Industries.

People want more than just banking. They need experience. And they need where they can keep their money for safety.

A bank is defined in the study of commerce and or business study as a place where money is kept for safety. So how come are they now charging customers arbitrarily without descriptions?

The charges that many customers encountered over the years are exorbitant. Some must let go of it because they are too busy to be coming into the banking and feel no need to start public drama. And how about the elderly whose account got charged for no good reason or evidence but couldn’t have access to the physical banking hall?

What is the government doing about all these deductions? And how about failed transactions?

The solutions to issues we are facing are what brought about FINTECH. And much is expected from them in the areas of accountability. We need a FINTECH whereby when we deposit N1,000 that same amount should remain there till the following day and even one week. They should not turn it into 3 figures as in N898 or N898.01k

Any debit or deductions must be fully explained. Customers deserve to be educated.

For the fact that most FINTECH are running an online space. They are strongly urged to stay close to their customers 24/7. They should be found when needed across all social media handles. This is where quality support comes into play. Your customer support should not act robot by copying and pasting out-of-point answers to clients’ queries or inquiries.

The business of FINTECH with the public is a business of money. A client that is doing business with you would like it when you respond faster to queries and they would feel bad when neglected. Being neglected they could even feel you have shut down and operations and that you have gone away with their money. So, you need to stay in touch with your clients and ensure your mobile app has enhanced functionality that customers can play around with and get the perfect online banking experience using their devices.

FINTECH has a higher chance of changing the business outlook in this country. Only if they are going to put the people first and take customers’ feedback as a product-led function for overall NPS.


Can You Kiss Your Company Brand?

 

I saw a post here on LinkedIn where one GE employee was kissing her company brand. I feel like this is amazing.

The thought of bad treatment that some of us have encountered from bad companies can always come to mind. Especially when we hear that someone is in love with her company brand.

As we have bad companies in Nigeria. Yes, we still have a few good ones. What constitutes a bad company? What are the attributes or characteristics of a bad company?

I shared a story of how Jane discarded all the diaries that she had gotten over the years from her company. She went ahead and even disposed of all the calendars plus branded materials like a T-shirt, and a writing pad certificate of attendance of seminars she has attended over the years.

“…see Tony, the company that I worked with in Lagos, Nigeria are very naïve. Or what word should I use? They are not humane. Let me start with the Human Resource Manager. This man is very mean when it comes to dealing with people. He expected me to resume work just a few days after my wedding. He cut people's salaries and put them into company expenses like fuel or diesel. And he would tell you to your face that he just dealt with you just the same way they do in a cement factory. So, what he is trying to say is that we that we are bankers are mere factory workers. And you guys expect me to kiss this brand. For what reason? I frown at their signage, posts, and whatever banner I come across. I wish I never worked there in my life. It is a terrible place to work…”

When we see XYZ is a good place to work is a function of direct report, founder, business owner, and even also Human Resource Manager. I would keep saying that these young folks called Human Resource Generalists as caused more harm than good in the modern workplace than ever. Those with Job-related titles in Quality Assurance have been displaced. They are nowhere to be found. Behaviors in our workplace are not being checked and people just do what they like.

Whose company is worth my peck? Not to talk of kissing now? You don’t judge a company by what they do to the public. Those are eye service. The true color of any company lies in how they treat their internal staff be it contract, staff, or employee. Any company can hire a content writer and write all kinds of exaggerated wordings on their website saying things like “we value our people” Just any company can do an act of service to the public and start snapping pix saying they are responsible. How responsible are they to their internal and external clients? Employees were forced to get out of your workplace by your informal group. Your company denies people's salaries and allowances. Some other times your company has pushed so many talented individuals into the street inside the sun hustling and selling items. And you said you are responsible. Have you thought of the staff you sacked unjustly who is the sole breadwinner of his or her family? And you jeopardize them. Dear bad companies, HR, and managers, I don’t know if Karma truly works but it would catch up with you. This company you put on your head is not yours forever. Why not just stay humble and realize that the world is like a ball? Or they said it is a small world. Those staff you sack unjustly may hire you one day. Or do you think is not possible?

How we run and manage the company here is very worrisome. We feel that the government's job is a job of corruption and politics. So, no one to intervene in the affairs of workers. And you think you have the right to use us anyhow you like.

Oh, I wish I can see a company brand of choice to even hug right now. To the GE employees who hug her company brand. I am so happy for her. GE is a good place to work. I read winning by Jack Welch, and I know the kind of legacy this Genius installed in GE.

One day me too shall see a brand to kiss and feel like you are part of my family. I am glad to have work here. I shall recommend you as a good place to work.  Dreaming is allowed!
